Insurance & Payment
QUESTIONS ABOUT INSURANCE, FEES, AND BILLING
-
Yes. Bloom Therapy works with several insurance providers. Coverage depends on your specific insurance plan, the clinician providing services, and your location. Before beginning therapy, I recommend verifying your benefits and confirming whether I am in network with your particular plan.
-
The practice works with insurance networks that may include Aetna, Optum/UnitedHealthcare, EmblemHealth, Empire BlueCross BlueShield, MVP, Carelon, and Oscar. Participation varies by plan, state, and clinician. Please contact the practice with your insurance information so we can help determine whether your specific coverage is accepted.
-
If I am not in network with your insurance plan, you may have the option to receive services at a private-pay rate. Depending on your plan, you may also qualify for out-of-network reimbursement. I encourage you to contact your insurance provider to understand your benefits and any applicable reimbursement requirements before beginning treatment.
-
Self-pay rates depend on the type and length of the therapy session. I am happy to provide information about my current fees during your complimentary 15-minute phone consultation. You will be informed of the applicable fees before scheduling your first paid appointment.
-
A superbill may be available upon request for eligible services. This document contains information your insurance company may require when reviewing an out-of-network reimbursement claim. Reimbursement is determined by your insurance plan and is not guaranteed. Please verify your benefits with your insurer before beginning treatment.
The Therapy Process
WHAT TO EXPECT IN THERAPY
-
Our first session is an opportunity for me to get to know you, understand what brings you to therapy, and learn more about your personal history, current challenges, and goals. We will discuss your concerns, explore what you hope to achieve, and begin developing a personalized approach to treatment. I strive to create a welcoming, comfortable environment where you can share at your own pace without feeling pressured or judged.
-
The length of therapy varies depending on your concerns, goals, preferences, and progress. Some individuals benefit from short-term therapy focused on specific challenges, while others choose longer-term support to explore deeper emotional patterns, relationships, or ongoing life circumstances. We will regularly review your progress and adjust our work as needed.
-
I believe there is no one-size-fits-all approach to therapy. I use an eclectic, individualized approach that may incorporate cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), emotionally focused therapy (EFT), attachment-informed perspectives, and trauma-informed strategies, depending on your needs. Together, we will identify your goals and develop strategies that reflect your experiences, strengths, and personal values.
-
I provide couples therapy to help partners address communication difficulties, recurring conflicts, emotional disconnection, trust concerns, and intimacy challenges. I also work with individuals exploring family relationships, boundaries, and relational patterns.
-
It is completely understandable to have questions or feel uncertain about beginning therapy. You do not need to have everything figured out before reaching out. I offer a complimentary 15-minute initial phone consultation where we can briefly discuss your concerns, answer questions, and explore whether my therapeutic approach may be a good fit for your needs.

Telehealth Services
VIRTUAL THERAPY IN NEW YORK, NEW JERSEY & FLORIDA
-
I provide virtual psychotherapy to clients who are physically located in New York, New Jersey, or Florida at the time of their appointment, subject to applicable licensing and practice requirements. Because professional licensing laws vary by state, please let me know if you plan to attend a session while traveling outside these states.
-
Virtual therapy allows us to meet through a secure video platform from your home or another private location. Before your appointment, you will receive instructions for joining your session. During our time together, we will explore your concerns, discuss your goals, and work collaboratively on strategies that support your emotional well-being.
-
Research suggests that telehealth psychotherapy can be effective for many mental health concerns, including anxiety and depression. However, effectiveness depends on individual needs, treatment goals, clinical circumstances, and the therapeutic approach used. During our consultation, we can discuss whether virtual therapy is appropriate for you or whether another level or format of care may better meet your needs.
-
I use SimplePractice, a practice management platform that includes secure video appointments and a client portal. Before your appointment, you will receive instructions for accessing your session. You can generally participate using a compatible computer, tablet, or smartphone with a reliable internet connection.
-
You will need a reliable internet connection, a device with a camera and microphone, and a quiet, private space where you feel comfortable speaking openly. Headphones can help improve privacy. I also recommend joining a few minutes early to check your connection and minimize interruptions. For safety and confidentiality, please avoid participating while driving or from public spaces.
-
Yes. Confidentiality is a fundamental part of the therapeutic relationship. I respect your privacy and take appropriate steps to protect the personal information you share during sessions. Information is handled in accordance with applicable privacy laws and professional ethical standards. There are certain legal and safety-related exceptions to confidentiality, which we will discuss as part of the informed consent process.
-
Yes. Although therapy is generally confidential, there are circumstances in which disclosure may be required or permitted by law. These can include certain situations involving suspected child or vulnerable adult abuse, serious safety concerns, or valid legal requirements. The specific rules depend on applicable federal and state laws. I will explain these limits during the intake process so you understand how your information is protected.
-
I use a secure telehealth and practice management platform and follow applicable privacy and confidentiality requirements. I also encourage clients to attend sessions from a private location, use a secure internet connection, and avoid sharing appointment links or portal login information. Although no electronic system can guarantee absolute security, appropriate safeguards help reduce privacy risks.
-
When insurance is used to pay for therapy, certain information may need to be shared with your insurance provider for eligibility verification, claims processing, payment, or other permitted purposes. This may include dates of service, billing codes, diagnoses, and other information needed for coverage or payment review. Detailed psychotherapy notes are subject to additional privacy protections. I can discuss what information may be shared before you begin treatment.
